Indigenous and Land Rights

The first meeting of the thematic cycle on Rights took place on March 18, 2021, focused on the subject of Indigenous and Land Rights.

The meeting included the presentation of the regional case on the Escazú Agreement – Rights of Access to Information, Participation and Environmental Justice in Latin America and the Caribbean, presented by Yumna Ghani, Project Advisor in Article 19; of the case on Setbacks in Indigenous and Land Rights in Brazil – Strategies of the Indigenous Movement, presented by Kari Guajajara, Indigenous lawyer and Undersecretary of Women in the State of Maranhão; in addition to the case on the Fight of the PUINAMUDT for the Guarantee of their Rights in the Peruvian Amazon, presented by Renato Pita, representative of PUINAMUDT.
